 US University application Procedure For Nepali applicant




Hello Aspirants, I am a high school graduate of the Class of 2020 and an incoming freshman at NYUAD. I took a gap year and applied for Fall of 2021 and luckily got acceptance in some colleges and my dream college(where I will be going this fall). Although this year turned out to be dark for many applicants, I feel lucky to get that amazing acceptance alongside meeting my full need. 


As writing played a vital role in my acceptance, I came up with the idea of sharing my knowledge and information about International Admissions with you guys through this medium. Here you could see the list of the contents, I will be writing blogs on. I plan to finish writing all those blogs within August of 2021. Any sort of comments and suggestions would be helpful for the blogs and eventually the aspirants.

  1. Before Applying

  • Some terms related to International Admissions

  • Ask yourself if you want to apply during the 12th or in a gap year

  • Talk with your family and know your EFC

  • Research through each and every college

  • Make a College list

  • List the requirements of the College (Language, Standardized testing)

  • Prepare and give the Standardized testing and evaluate if you need English Language testing.

  • Start filling your common app

  • Began writing your Personal Statement

  •  Fix your ED and EA colleges 

  • Start your supplemental essays for Early colleges

  • Ask for recommendations from your teachers and counselor

  • Use different sources and resources for editing and crafting your essays

  • Connect everything in your application

  • Submit the applications

  • Submit your CSS Profile as soon as possible and ask for the CSS Profile fee waiver code. 

  • Check your emails regularly

  • Engage yourself in fruitful work if you are on a gap year otherwise focus on your academics

  • Participate in Admitted Students Weekend programs

  • Bargain for scholarships

  • Accept an offer of one college from your list of acceptances

  • Take a break from it and enjoy your achievement

  • Began your Visa process

  • Enjoy your next four years

How should you start your college search?

  Knowing your EFC and researching college   EFC which stands for Expected Family Contribution is a term that you will hear thousands of times while applying to universities especially if you are a student applying for financial aid.  EFC is the fixed amount of money your family is supposed to contribute to your college costs for one year. US universities are pretty expensive and for an average family, it is difficult to pay without taking loans.  However, US university education comes at a different range of prices. Columbia University in the City of Newyork, Uchicago. and Harvey Mudd College are some of the most expensive universities in the US with a sticker price of more than 80k dollars per year for tuition, room, and board. Brigham Young University’s three campuses are the cheapest with an annual tuition below 7000$. Also, you may find cheaper options at community colleges. A levels
